Recently it has become practical to integrate performance monitoring agents into set top boxes to provide performance feedback to service providers. This has the advantage of providing per-channel feedback on quality and feedback on subscriber viewing statistics. Solutions are available from Telchemy (SQlive), Agama and several other technology providers.
